Engagement photos in Downtown Austin are literally never going to look bad. There is so much variety to choose from. Between nature (Zilker Park, Barton Springs, Pfluger Pedestrian Bridge) and city scapes (South Congress looking at the capitol, the Contemporary Jones Center wall) you can’t go wrong. We try to plan our engagement shoots around the couple & their experiences. For Sam & Kevin, P. Terry’s was a staple obsession & frequent outing in their college days. We were STOKED at the prospect of them sharing a milk shake, cheers-ing their burgers, or as Kevin did, making a fry mustache. These cuties were cool as cucumbers even though they had multiple cameras pointed at them while eating. How can two people look so adorable while shoving a meat patty in their face? Exhibit A below.
Next up, we captured some moody lit parking garage shots & elevator kiss sessions at The Carpenter Hotel and stopped off the side of Mopac near Zilker Park for some romantic snap shots in the trees. Lastly, we recreated their first date spot up on the rooftop, slow dancing to John Mayer as the sun dipped behind the building.
In addition to their engagement photos, Sam & Kevin opted for a Save The Date film to send to friend’s and family as a unique & environmentally friendly way to announce their date. Planning Your Engagement Photos & Save The Date Film
Here are our top tips for making engagement photos memorable & enjoyable:
Pick an activity you either love to do together or something you’ve always wanted to do together! For example, we filmed one couple riding pedicabs for the first time, which was also a reference to an inside joke between them.
Plan a call back to a significant moment in your relationship. Your first date at Amy’s Ice Creams, or the spot where you got engaged.
Don’t be afraid to make it an all day affair/experience! We love storytelling & are always down for an adventure.
Pets are always welcome! But make sure you have a way for them to sit on the sidelines to get some pictures of just the two of you stress-free.
You can keep it simple! If your favorite pastime is lounging on the couch, eating cheese puffs & watching YouTube (not NOT saying that’s our favorite thing) we can capture that just as well!
How you FEEL is just as (if not more) important as how you look. Going in with this mindset will take so much pressure off of you and your partner & let the candid moments happen and the creativity flow.
